I’m going to cut through the BS!

Good health does not have to be complicated. It’s not about taking this vitamin or that, taking this test or that, or buying this gadget or that. It’s actually none of that.

Drowning in Illness

Getting healthy doesn’t have to make your head spin. Again… It’s. Not. That. Complicated. But oh, how I’ve felt that frustration—like when, 20 years ago, I was drowning in diagnoses: depression, anxiety, OCD, IBS, Gallbladder disease and Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was a mess, and my kitchen hutch was a shrine to my vitamin obsession, bottles spilling over from my vitamin junkie days.

I was a Slave to my Vitamin Box

Picture this, when my mother was alive, we’d go out to eat and she’d pull out her pill box full of medications while I’d unpack my vitamin boxes (plural, because one couldn’t hold them all). One day, I looked at both our boxes and asked myself, “What the hell am I doing? We’re both slaves to our pills.” You’ve sensed that trap, haven’t you? It was that thought that shook me awake…slowly. The guilt and fear of ditching those vitamins gnawed at me—years of brainwashing whispering I’d fail or get sicker if I stopped—and yet my body screamed, “No more!”, so I finally decided to let the them go and focus on eating real food, changing my lifestyle habits, and working on healing my emotions and beliefs that had been holding me back.

Spent Thousands on Gadgets

Then, 6 years ago, my husband got hit—Lyme Disease turned into polyneuropathy, stripping his hands and legs of strength and feeling until he couldn’t walk or even grip a spoon. Frightened, the desperation and frustration boiled over—we blew thousands on gidgets, gadgets, and gizmos—infrared lights, TENS units, hydrogen water machines—anything promising “the” fix. You’ve been there too, haven’t you—chasing that one answer, only to chase the next when the previous failed? And he was obedient, following doctors’ orders in eating a plant-based and regularly taking his medication (that later we learned, to our horror, was destroying his liver!) Yeah, as you can guess, none of it got him well. No amount of money, supplements, drugs, or devices did the trick, and again, ditching it all, we returned to the simple basics—real food, lifestyle changes, and emotional healing— to get his health back. We were reminded again that healing isn’t in some sexy new fad, gadget, or pill—it’s in us— and it is much simpler than Good health does not have to be complicated. It’s not about taking this vitamin or that, taking this test or that, or buying this gadget or that. It’s actually none of that.

Why are we so confused?

So why have we made getting healthy so confusing? Money, in my opinion—too many out there are itching to push their wares—chances are, it’s fluff you don’t even need. Many holistic ‘experts’ want to make you dependent on them (much like your doctor does), instead of helping you find your own way. And just like Big Pharma, they’d go broke without sick folks to cash in on.   I mean, even Big Pharma and Big Food has gotten into the racket, now owning many supplement companies, even those “natural” brands we’d come to trust. Ever feel ready to ditch that hustle and breathe free?

We may get off medications only to become slaves to supplements, and at best, most supplements are unnecessary and at worst, a scam. Or we’ve wasted thousands on fads —maybe you’ve felt that sting too. Sure, there are times for quality supplements, and even a helpful gadget or two, but they are just tools. Tools to support your healing, but they are not the core solution to getting and staying well!

It Can be Simple. You Can be Well

Then sipping pure water, breathing fresh air, soaking in sun, grounding your feet. Moving, laughing, meditating, letting go of baggage, finding gratitude, healing relationships (including the one with yourself) and reclaiming and living your soul’s purpose.

Good health is practicing what our ancestors have done for millennia (and they didn’t worry about what their Vit. D or cholesterol levels were or which Infrared light to purchase).

Again, good health is not complicated, however, it does take commitment. It doesn’t come from the convenience of taking a pill, or jumping onto the next health fad. It comes from looking inside ourselves and healing from within. And that truly is no BS.
